Early Medieval China Workshop

April 17 @ 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm

Date: Wednesday, April 17, 2019
Time: 3:30 – 5:00 PM

Location: East Asia Library (Seminar Room 2M), UW

Note: Workshop conducted in Mandarin Chinese

Presenters: Professor Dai Yan & Professor Ge Zhaoguang (Fudan University)

Professor Dai Yan:

The research of Early Medieval China has focused on the source materials and their evaluations and interpretations as texts. There has been much ink spilled on individual authors and specific pieces. What remains wanting may be research with a focus on history and/or a perspective on historiography, which shall promise new horizons.

Professor Ge Zhaoguang:

Ethnicity, families and clans, regionalities, and religion continue to be essential issues for research in the history of Early Medieval China. What are some of the recent developments in these areas of study will be the focus of the talk.
