This April, The Pacific Science Center of Washington is featuring a one-of-a-kind exhibit of The Terracotta Warriors of the First Emperor. Be our guest for a very special night at the museum; explore the Terracotta Warriors exhibit, and learn more about how ancient history continues to shape identities in contemporary China.

The Confucius Institute of the State of Washington (CIWA), a partnership of the University of Washington and Seattle Public Schools, is pleased to join the World Affairs Council in hosting the evening’s events as part of the celebration of CIWA’s 7th anniversary on April 26, 2017. CIWA will share highlights from its first 7 years and an update on what’s to come.

The public program will feature former Washington Post bureau chief in Beijing, and the author of The Beautiful Country and the Middle Kingdom: America and China, 1776 to the Present, John Pomfret. Mr. Pomfret will lead a conversation on U.S.-China relations in a new administration, and will discuss how history informs relations between the two nations.

Doors open at 4:30 PM (for the Global Classroom Teacher Program). The public program will begin with a brief update by the Confucius Institute followed by the conversation with John Pomfret  from 6:00 – 7:30 PM. Guests will then be invited to tour the exhibit from 7:30 – 8:30 PM. Program includes refreshments and a ticket to the exhibit.

Cost is $15 for World Affairs Council members; $25 for non-members.
