In early 2011, the Confucius Institute of the State of Washington welcomed our two Chinese directors: Deng Bo from Sichuan University and Tang Changping (Donna) from Chongqing University of Technology. Deng Bo works at the Confucius Institute Office at the University of Washington in the Aerospace Engineering Building. Donna is generally at the Confucius Institute Education Center at Chief Sealth International High School several days a week and at the University of Washington Confucius Institute Office about one to two days a week.

Our American Directors are Dr. Gary Hamilton, Professor in the Department of Sociology and the Jackson School of International Studies at the University of Washington, and Karen Kodama, International Education Administrator for Seattle Public Schools. Gary chairs the Confucius Institute Board of Directors and Karen chairs the Education Advisory Board for the Confucius Institute Education Center.

Our founding director was Dr. Stephen Hanson, Vice Provost for Global Affairs at the University of Washington, who is now Vice Provost for International Affairs at the College of William and Mary.
